TURN PLANNING

Sequence the work. Protect the ready date.

Every turn is different. Plan around the actual scope and vendor availability, rather than assuming a fixed number of days.

Start with the handoff.

Identify when the space needs to be ready and who confirms readiness. Reserve time for your final walk-through, punch-list corrections and access handoff before placing the trade work on the calendar.

Agree on the dependencies.

  1. Assess and clear: walk the space, document the scope, arrange trash-out and prepare access.
  2. Repair and coordinate trades: confirm which repairs must finish before walls, floors or other surfaces are completed.
  3. Finish and protect: sequence painting, flooring and other finish work with the vendors, allowing for their stated preparation and drying requirements.
  4. Clean and inspect: schedule final cleaning after disruptive work, then inspect against the agreed scope.
  5. Resolve and hand off: complete outstanding items, record completion and prepare the space for its next occupant.

Use one shared schedule.

For each task, record the owner, expected start, target completion, prerequisite work and status. Make one person responsible for communicating changes so vendors do not arrive before the space is ready for them.

Leave room for access delays, material availability and follow-up work. If the scope changes, confirm the effect on the ready date before moving the next task.

Put the plan into action.

Use the checklist to track the work and the directory to find the services you need.
